So Future of the Left wrote a fantastic album with 2009's Travels with Myself and Another. The direction they have taken with Plot is not the one I would have expected based on their previous work ( or Andy Falkous' work in McLusky), but it further evolution of their cynicism and darkly sarcastic attitude makes for many compelling songs. Falkous' lyrics have always been important, but now they're the definite centerpiece. Thankfully they are always great, without exception, even when the music built around them isn't much to speak of. Think "Robocop 4 -- Fuck off Robocop." I don't know that we needed another song about orgies.
It's weird, angry, funny, and totally unexpected.
